On Tuesday 13th February 6 RMSC students currently in year 10:Dylan Gray, Kuvam Lockyer-Sharrock, Charlene Pham,Troy Santopietro, Oscar Puz and Kwina Patel  were invited to attend the Dassault Systems 3D experience Playground.

This was an 3DExperience playground designed to illustrate business examples from virtual shipyard for maritime construction, to additive manufacturing, sustainable mining and supply chain management.

Students were guided through the exhibits by Dr Michael Doyle, Scientific Innovation Wizard 3D. He described the stations and students then played  within the virtual worlds of an underground mine, industry plant, explored additive manufacturing and a torpedo weapon retriever.

The students felt this was the best excursion they had ever attended! Dylan was impressed by the experience of using the 3D simulators and also the vast uses by industry.  Kuvam and Charlene loved the virtual city of Sydney and Adelaide and how they are using them for mapping paths and traffic and construction.   Oscar enjoyed all the VR experience and thought the “real”view of Adelaide Oval from the conference rooms was awesome.

A highlight for all the students was a meeting with one of the company founders, Mr Phillip Forestier, Vice President of Dassault Systèms, Global Affairs and Communities. His passion for youth, education and the future was infectious.
