Process and zoning by Deputy Principal, Lorraine Securo

Roma Mitchell Secondary College adheres to all aspects of the DE (Department for Education) School Enrolment Policy for our Co-Education and Special Education Campuses.

Girls’ Education Campus

Our Girls’ Education enrolment policy and processes have some differences. Our Girls’ Education Campus is not Zoned. Families from all over South Australia may apply for entry.

Families may express interest via our online form visiting in person or indicating preference for the Girls’ Education Campus in the Year 7 to 8 transition process. Once this interest is registered an interview is arranged with the family, student and the Head of our Girls’ Education Campus. The purpose of the interview is to provide information about the Girls’ Education Campus and ensure the family understand the processes, pastoral care, curriculum focus and extracurricular opportunities. This enables the family and student to make an informed choice about an all-girls education for their daughter. If the Head of Campus, student and family agree that an all-girls education would be desirable and a vacancy exists in the desired year level then the enrolment process proceeds.

General Enrolment Process at RMSC

When initial enquiries for enrolment are made by Parents/Caregivers or Students, details are recorded by front office staff on our Enrolment Query database.

If the enquiry is for the Co-Education Campus and a vacancy exists, the Deputy Principal gives the relevant information to the relevant School counsellor or Head of Campus to organise the enrolment interview as soon as possible. If vacancies are restricted, preference is given to in zone applicants only.

All criteria listed in the DE (Department for Education) Enrolment Policy are considered when vacancies are limited. Interest in our specialist programs such as Specialist Soccer, Cricket, and AFLW, International Baccalaureate and Mathematics are also considered.

If the enquiry is for the Girls’ Education Campus, the Deputy Principal hands the relevant information to the relevant School Counsellor or Head of Girls’ Education Campus to organise the interview and subsequent enrolments as soon as possible.

If the enquiry is for the Special Education Campus, the Deputy Principal gives the parent the phone number for the Para Hills Special Education Manager. If the Special needs of the students are unclear, the Deputy Principal asks the Head of Special Education Campus to phone the parent in order to support them through an appropriate enrolment process.
