Roma Mitchell Secondary College believes that students’ development & wellbeing is as important as their education. Students learn more when they are healthy, safe and happy.

The students’ wellbeing also reflects on the school’s character and values, Respect, Excellence and Diversity.

The school takes its responsibility for student wellbeing seriously by providing an environment that is ideal for individual development as well as many student support services.

Most importantly, the school encourages and supports students to take positive action and responsibility for their physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual health.

Personal Learning Plan (PLP)

The Personal Learning Plan is completed during year 10 with students developing short, medium and long-term plans related to their personal, learning and career goals.

Students interact with staff and community members when undertaking research into careers and senior school subject selection. They compile a folio consisting of evidence of their interactions, investigations, planning and reflection. The folio is presented to a panel of staff and parents/care-givers during a round-table discussion. Assessment for SACE accreditation is based on the capabilities:
• literacy • numeracy • critical and creative thinking • personal and social • intercultural understanding • ethical • information and communication technology

The Personal Learning Plan is taught within the year 10 History/Geography line during two weeks of each term, culminating in the round table discussion early in term 4.
